Craft Mobs

Want to meet up with others to crochet, knit, or sew for charity?  Then, you'll want to start a 'craft mob'.  Anyone can start one in their city -- it's simple to do.

Craft mobs allow like-minded folks to get together locally and create handmade goods for donation to local charities.  It's as simple as scheduling a time and inviting all of your friends, colleagues, and family members.

How To Create or Join a Local Craft Mob
Visit the Craft Mob schedule and see if a mob is already started in your community that you can join.  If not, you can start one and invite others to join you.  If you can't make it to the location where a local mob is set up, you can start another mob in your community that is closer to where you live.

What To Make
Need some inspiration?  Check out our charity donation list for ideas on the types of items to make and where you might be able to donate goods locally.  When you meet for the event, you can discuss with others where you might donate the items.

During the Craft Mob
Make sure to pack all of the supplies you'll need for the get-together.  It might even be fun to take extra supplies in the hope of trading with others at the event.  Remember, it's just a casual social gathering. The mob will generally last for a few hours (or longer, if you want).

Donating Handmade Items
If you're not able to finish the project you're working on during the event, that's ok.  Once it's finished, you can donate it following the event.  You can either designate a person from your mob to collect the items and make the donation, or you can do it yourself.

After the Craft Mob
Take lots of photos of the people and projects, then after your event share the photos in the Craft Mob Flickr pool.  Make sure to check back on our schedule so you can participate when the next craft mob forms.
